BLIND BOYS OF ALABAMA: LA STORIA DEL ROCK

E’ senza dubbio il gruppo più longevo in attività nella musica, le prime esperienze sono datate addiritura nel 1937, allora la band si chiamava Happy land jubilee singer e ancora oggi alcuni componenti di quei anni, sono ancora presenti oggi, come Clarence Fontaine, che è ancora più incredibile dato che Fontaine e alcuni membri del gruppo sono non vedenti. La loro musica nasce dai gospel e si trascina per decenni con trasformazioni continue musicali a volte r’n’be funky. Anche se nei anni del dopoguerra, alcunicomponenti lasciano il gruppo per forndare uno proprio con il nomedi Original Five Blind of Mississippi, che darà una feroce ma onesta competizione tra le due formazioni. Tra il 1960 eil 1970 fontaine tenta una carriera da solista, nel 1983 la band si ricompatta e arrivano i migliori successi. Nel decennio dopo riusciranno ad avere anche nomination ai Grammy Award, che riceveranno il premio nel 1997 eil 2002. Sempre in quel anno collaborano anche con Peter Gabriel nel lp Up go tell it on the mountain. Oggi, ancora danno creatività alla musica con nuovi lavori di studio.
